One of the world's coolest neighborhoods is Amsterdam Noord
According to Time Out, these are the world's coolest neighborhoods
Are you a fan of some exposed brick? Are you not ashamed to disclose that your preferred beverage is an IPA from a nearby brewery? Are you adamant that there can never be too many independent cafes in a city? Then Time Out's list of the world's 51 coolest neighborhoods is certainly right up your alley.
In order to compile a definitive list of the areas with "accessible, cutting-edge culture and nightlife; brilliant and affordable food and drink; lively street life and big community vibes," the magazine once again surveyed thousands of city dwellers throughout the world. The results of the Time Out Index survey were combined with expert input from their international network of writers.
The epicenter of all things cool is in Amsterdam Noord
The 32nd coolest neighborhood in the world is located in Amsterdam's Noord neighborhood, which is north of the IJ river. Noord has managed to hold onto its position on the list. The magazine praises Amsterdam Noord for its "gritty, post-industrial charm," describing it as a "different world" from the touristy center of the Dutch capital.
While the majority of the architecture in this region of the city has not changed, the mood has; pop-up breweries, cutting-edge museums, and vegan eateries now call disused warehouses and shipping containers home.
Sadly, no other Dutch cities were able to make the list. However, Berlin's Neukölln was chosen as the 15th coolest neighborhood in the world, proving that Amsterdam Noord is far from the only hip locale in Europe.
